So you have your cruise booked and now the big question is…. IS THE CHEERS PACKAGE WORTH IT?
I can’t even tell you how many times I see this question asked in the cruise and travel groups.
There is really no “Perfect” answer to this question because it is truly going to depend on you, your budget and really boils down to how much you drink and what you drink!

So lets Break it down a little bit and hopefully after reading my thoughts you will be able to make the decision on if the Cheers Package is really worth it for you!
These pictures and prices listed in this post are all from Carnival Cruise line. Most cruise lines are similar in the pricing give or take. Also Remember there are many other drink options at the different bars, the menus I show in this post are just to give you an idea!
Price of Cheers Package
The total price is going to depend on how many days your cruise is. If you log into your account once you book you will be able to see the exact price for your cruise. Just go into the Fun Shops option.
You can buy online before you sail and save 10%. You can also buy on board the first day.
Pre-Sail Price is $59.95 per day plus 15% gratuity
Keep in mind the cut-off to pre-purchase Cheers 11:59 PM the day before embarkation and 9:00pm EST through call center

What is Included in the Cheers Package
Up to 15 Alcoholic Beverages per day ($20 or less drinks)
Bottled Water (About $2 per bottle individually)
Soda ($2.25 if purchased individually)
Milk Shakes ($4 if purchased individually)
Specialty Coffee ($1-$6 depending how fancy you are)
Energy Drinks ($4.95 if purchased individually)
Coconut Water, Vitamin Water and Powerade
Smoothies ($5.50 if purchased individually)
So here is where YOU are going to Figure out if it is worth it for YOU!

You would need about 9-10 beers a day to break even, if you are drinking 15 beers a day than your Cheers Package is well worth it!
For Fruity Drinks you would need to purchase about 7 each day, anything over that is making your Cheers Package well worth it!
Wine is going to be anywhere from 5 glasses to 7 glasses to make Cheers worth it depending on which kind you drink.
Some things to keep in Mind While Deciding
You Have to buy for the whole duration of your cruise! This is NOT a day by day purchase. So will you make it worth it every single day?
If 1 Adult over 21 in your cabin buys the Cheers Package than ALL adults over 21 in your cabin must purchase as well!
You can bring on One 750ml or less bottle of wine or champagne per person (Must be in your carry on) You can also bring one 12 pack of soda/energy drinks/juice cans per person (Must be in your carry on)
You can also purchase bottles of alcohol from the Fun Shops ONLINE BEFORE you sail and they will be waiting in your room for you if you want to make and mix your own drinks instead.
Final Verdict
Like I said before “Is it worth it” is really going to depend on YOU and the other people in your cabin!
2020 Update
We decided to get the Cheers package for myself and the kids the soda package this past cruise on the Horizon. Not sure I will ever sail without it again! LOVED the freedom to get whatever I wanted without the bill climbing up! The kids thought it was so cool to order sodas whenever and wherever without their cheap mama making them carry soda cans from the room!
You Must try the “Kiss on the Lips”. So delicious!
