Our LEGO Fortnite Village Guide will go over how to create and upgrade villages. We'll also show how to recruit more villagers as your settlement expands.
Making a Village
Starting a LEGO Fortnite Village requires you to place a Village Square. This is done via the build menu (default Q key on PC), after you've collected the resources Wood and Granite.
With 10 of each in your inventory, place down a Village Square where you'll want to create your new settlement. You're given a few options for customising the village's icon, though its name will be based on the player that created it.
Village bonuses are mostly the same between biomes, though villagers in Dry Valley or Frostland biomes will equip an accessory that reduces the effect of each area's extreme temperatures. This means they wont take damage over time (you'll still need to make an accessory for yourself however).
Adding Villagers
Villages in LEGO Fortnite start off with no residents. To add more, you must first have a spare bed somewhere in the village — these do not need to be in separate buildings, or even in buildings at all.
Then, talk to the explorers that visit the village each night. You can talk to them, and then add them to your village. However, villages must be upgraded to unlock more villager slots. At level 10, villages can hold a total of 5 villagers.
After moving in, villagers can be asked to follow you. They'll fight enemies or gather resources, though their tools can break over time.
With further village upgrades, villagers can also be given tasks such as refining materials or cooking food. All they need is the relevant crafting station (i.e. a crafting bench to make gathering tools or a grill for cooking), and they do not use up any materials in chests.
Upgrading Villages
Interacting with a placed Village Square will show you the village's current residents and its level. Village levels go up to 10, with the xp meter increasing as you place new objects inside the build area (represented by a glowing square around the village when building).
To upgrade a village to the next level, select the "upgrade village" option after interacting with the Village Square. This will show you the materials you need to upgrade the village, which changes depending on the biome you're building a village in.
